Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy Uniform Policy

Uniform Policy In Person and Online

Uniform Policy:

Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy has a standard uniform agreement. Students must wear MPCA uniforms for 2020-2021. A detailed Uniform Policy and agreement was signed upon enrollment and is also included with these materials. In addition it is the expectation of Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy that all students attending classes on the physical campus of Mainland:

  • Must wear solid black or solid brown shoes, boots or gym shoes. No other color is allowed to show on the top of the shoe. No symbol or emblem is allowed on footwear at any time for any reason.

  • Flip Flops, sandals of any kind or any kind of slippers, is not considered to be a part of Mainland Uniform and is not allowed unless designated by the Campus Director.

  • Socks for young men must only be solid black, brown, green, burgundy, khaki or white. No other colors are permissible. If a male does not have on the correct color socks they will be asked to take them off and a guardian will be contacted to bring socks of the appropriate color.

  • Socks and/or tights for young ladies must only be solid black, brown, green, burgundy, khaki or white. No other colors are permissible. If a female student does not have on the correct color socks or tights they will be asked to take them off and a guardian will be contacted to bring socks or tights of the appropriate color.

  • Students may wear Mainland sweatshirts without the hood or a solid black, burgundy or green sweatshirt without a hood. No symbol, emblem or design of any kind is allowed on sweatshirts at any time, for any reason, unless it is the Mainland Logo. Any student wearing any other type of sweatshirt will be asked to remove it and place the hoodie in their backpack.

  • No hoodies allowed for any reason at any time. Any student wearing a hoodie will be asked to remove it and place the hoodie in their backpack.

  • Students may wear Mainland jackets with the logo or a solid black, burgundy or green jacket. No symbol, emblem or design of any kind is allowed on the jacket at any time, for any reason, unless it is the Mainland Logo. Any student wearing any other type of jacket will be asked to remove it and place the jacket in their backpack. We do understand that it may be hard to find a jacket without the hood, but please be advised. Students will not be allowed to have the hood on during class.

Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy does allow students to wear the Mainland uniform jacket and sweater. No hoodies allowed for any reason at any time. If your student has on a hooded sweatshirt or has on a sweatshirt with a logo other than Mainland’s they will be asked to remove it and place it in their backpack.

Hair Grooming:

  • Hair is to be clean and well-groomed. Hairstyles and hair colors that are distracting to the learning environment are not allowed.

  • Students are not allowed to have green, blue, burgundy, etc. colors in their hair. Responsive education handbook pg. 6

  • Hats, scarves, bandannas, hair coverings, sweatbands, or head bands are not allowed except under circumstances designated by the Campus Director and will be confiscated. Responsive education handbook pg. 6

  • Female students are only allowed to wear hair bows that represent Mainland colors. (burgundy, green, khaki, white or black)

Finger Nail Grooming:

Fingernails should be clean and well-groomed. If you chose for your student to wear artificial nails, the guidelines are as follows:

  • Nails must be short active length

  • Must not have a point of any kind. Rounded tips only.

  • Must only be clear in color or have an American manicure the strip can only be white.

  • No other nail art or jewelry is allowed.

Ear and Neck Jewelry:

Males:

  • Earrings are not acceptable for boys before, during, or after school. No Band-Aids will be allowed to cover earrings.

  • One chain with one pendant allowed (must be worn under a school shirt). Chain must not be visible.

  • A maximum of 1 ring and bracelet is allowed.

Females:

  • Jewelry must be kept to a minimum at all times.

  • A maximum of 1 thin chain with 1 pendant allowed.

  • Rings and bracelets are limited to one on each hand.

  • 1 small earring allowed per ear. No hoop style, long or colored earrings are allowed. The school will not be held responsible for lost or stolen jewelry at any time.

Face Coverings

  • Any student entering the building or moving around the building must have on a face mask Pre-K-8th grade.

  • Face covering must be solid burgundy, dark green, or black if it is cloth. No designs of any kind.

  • Your scholars name can be stitched onto the cloth face mask, in very small font on either side of the facemask.

  • Students are also allowed to wear the blue surgical mask.

  • Students are allowed to wear the mask with the ventilators but they must be solid black.

We understand that during this COVID-19 epidemic deliveries from Ibiley our preferred uniform supplier may be slow to arrive, and in some instances do not arrive at all by the time the first day of school begins. So understand that it is our expectation that you order your Ibiley Uniforms but in the event they do not arrive in time for the first day you are allowed to wear a temporary uniform:

  • Solid Burgundy or Dark Green polo shirt with no emblem of any kind on it.

  • Solid Khaki Pants. No cargo pants allowed.

  • For footwear places follow the above uniform guidelines.

Blue Jeans are no longer allowed to be worn in anticipation of your uniform arrival.

Online Learning

  • Students attending strictly online classes are required to be in the school uniform shirt at all times.

  • Please adhere to the policy above for all other grooming issues when on line. The same rules apply.
